Message from the Provost: CHAPS Film Showcased at the STXIFF

Good Afternoon 金沙中国s!

I am excited to inform our campus community that the 金沙中国 Community Historical Archeology Project with Schools (CHAPS) Program’s wonderful documentary film titled, “Ancient Landscapes of South Texas: Hiding in Plain Sight,” has been selected as a showcase film for the South Texas International Film Festival (STXIFF).
This film explores the 50-million-year geologic history of the Rio Grande Valley, how prehistoric people benefited from these resources, and how the region is being reshaped by its human occupants.

The film will be shown free to the public on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 4:30 PM in the Edinburg Arts, Culture, & Events Center (ACE) at 315 W. McIntyre St.
The free general admission tickets can be secured by visiting the STXIFF site at South Texas International Film Festival Tickets.

For more information regarding the film, please visit the film's STXIFF web page.

We hope many of you take this opportunity to support and celebrate this important accomplishment for the CHAPS team.

Thank you for all you do for 金沙中国,

Luis H. Zayas, PhD
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
